Ophiopogon jaburan is the larger growing variety of the popular mondo grass with strap-shaped leathery leaves. In summer, it has drooping racemes of small, white, bell-shaped flowers, followed by violet-blue fruit. This evergreen perennial is a popular border choice for dividing garden and pathways, poolside plantings, rockeries and containers. Grows well in most soils and conditions but for best results choose a sunny or partly shaded well-drained position. Responds well to an application of fertilizer in spring.
