Avicennia maritime is distributed along the east coast of Africa, is found in Southwest Asia, grows everywhere throughout South and Southeast Asia, in Australia and New Zealand.
Avicenna maritime is able to grow in the arid climate of the coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It is mainly found in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman and along the Red Sea coast in Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, eastern Sudan, and also in southern Iran along the coast of the Persian Gulf.
Avicenna maritime is one of the two most common species in the mangroves of South Africa.
In Australia, sea avicennia is found in the west and south of the mainland.
